HC hears plea to restrain Priya Kapur from alleged siphoning of RK Family Trust funds
Even as the Delhi High Court on Tuesday asked all family members to consider resolving their dispute through mediation, it sought response from Priya Kapur, wife of late businessman Sunjay Kapur, and others as to why they should not be restrained from "siphoning" of money from the RK Family Trust, as requested by the latter's 80-year old mother Rani Kapur.
Rani Kapur has sought the cancellation of the family trust and also directions that the interim dividend of around ₹28 crore should not be passed on to Priya Kapur. The trust holds a stake in automotive component manufacturer Sona Comstar, the flagship company of the Sona Group.

Rani claims to be the sole beneficiary and legatee of the entire estate of her late husband, Surinder Kapur, the Sona Group founder who died in 2015.
Justice Mini Pushkarna also sought Rani Kapur's response on Priya Kapur's application seeking rejection of her mother-in-law's suit that the RK Family Trust be scrapped and all assets and benefits should be restored to her. Rani has termed the family trust "illegal, fraudulent and unregistered", and sought restoration of her entire estate and legacy as it existed prior to the creation of the trust in 2017.
The court will next hear the case on March 23.
During the hearing, the court flayed the parties for 'washing dirty linen in public', and lamented the 'very sorry state of affairs' after Rani Kapur alleged Priya Kapur used a fraudulent trust to unlawfully divert the wealth.
