HGS' NXT DIGITAL appoints Hemlata Sharma to lead retail business
Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS) has appointed senior media and telecom executive Hemlata Sharma to head its retail business, spanning satellite (HITS), cable and retail broadband operations, as it sharpens focus on India’s fast-evolving digital distribution ecosystem.
Sharma will lead business growth, distribution strategy and retail partnerships for the NXT DIGITAL DTV and retail ONE Broadband brands across the country, with full profit and loss responsibility. Her appointment comes as HGS’ digital media arm, NXTDIGITAL Media Group, expands its footprint across direct-to-home television, broadband, IPTV and OTT services.

With more than 25 years of experience across media, broadcasting and telecommunications, Sharma is expected to play a key role in strengthening NXT DIGITALs market position in India’s competitive television and broadband segments.
Prior to joining HGS, Sharma was associated with Zee Media Corporation, where she served as Head of Distribution, Research and CRM. During her decade-long tenure, she led nationwide distribution strategy and consumer research for a large portfolio of news channels.
She has also held senior leadership roles at TEN Sports Network, where she was Senior Vice President and was involved in the relaunch of the Ten Sports bouquet, and at Bharti Airtel, where she served as General Manager – Operations, overseeing marketing and operations across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Commenting on the appointment, Vynsley Fernandes, Whole-time Director at HGS, said Sharma’s experience across both B2B and B2C markets would be instrumental as the company scales its retail operations.
“Hemlata brings a proven track record in leading large-scale businesses across B2B and B2C markets. She joins us at a time when we are strengthening national and regional teams across retail product development, sales, and customer experience. We are confident that her leadership skills, business acumen and operational discipline will help us accelerate growth in key areas,” Fernandes said.
Sharma said she sees strong potential in HGS’ integrated media and connectivity play. “HGS and NXTDIGITAL are respected brands in India’s media ecosystem and have always been ahead of the curve in innovation. I believe that my experience across broadcast distribution, telecom operations and digital media strategy can help strengthen the growth roadmap, as the media group continues to scale digital entertainment services and broadband connectivity nationwide through initiatives such as Project Ganga,” she said.
The appointment comes at a time when media and telecom convergence is accelerating in India, with operators increasingly bundling television, broadband and digital services to drive subscriber growth and improve monetisation.
