Honda's Big Move for India: 10 New Cars by 2030, Including Electric and Hybrid SUVs

Newspoint

Honda Motor Company has unveiled an ambitious roadmap for the Indian automotive market, announcing plans to introduce 10 new models by 2030. Out of these, seven will be SUVs, including two electric SUVs inspired by the Honda 0 Series concept, slated for a 2027 debut. The upcoming lineup will include both globally imported models (CBUs) and vehicles developed locally in India, reflecting Honda’s renewed focus on expanding its footprint in the SUV and EV segments.

Among the most anticipated launches is a new sub-4 meter compact SUV or crossover, designed to rival popular models like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Mahindra XUV3XO. Expected to arrive in 2029, this model will mark Honda’s return to the subcompact SUV space after the discontinuation of the WR-V in 2023 due to low sales and BS6 Stage II non-compliance.

Currently, Honda Cars India’s lineup features the Amaze subcompact sedan, the City mid-size sedan, and the Elevate mid-size SUV. However, the company’s upcoming portfolio will place a strong emphasis on hybrid and electric mobility. While Honda has not yet revealed specific details about its hybrid range, reports suggest a new three-row SUV with a hybrid powertrain could debut by late 2027.

This upcoming 7-seater SUV may also be the first production model built on Honda’s new PF2 modular platform — the same architecture expected to underpin the next-generation City sedan and future compact SUVs. Once launched, this SUV will compete directly with the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700, and the soon-to-be-launched Renault and Nissan Boreal models.

In addition, Honda is gearing up to introduce the Elevate Hybrid by mid-to-late 2026. The model will share its powertrain with the City e:HEV, combining a 1.5-liter petrol engine, an electric motor, a lithium-ion battery, and an e-CVT transmission. Together, this setup delivers 97 bhp of power and 127 Nm of torque, offering a balance of performance and efficiency.
