How much sacking Thomas Frank will cost Tottenham as PSR implications clear
Tottenham have sacked Thomas Frank - just eight months after paying £6.7million in compensation to secure his services from Brentford.
A 2-1 defeat against Newcastle United on Tuesday evening proved to be Frank's final game in charge, with Spurs dropping to 16th and just five points clear of the relegation zone.
In total, Frank won just 13 of his 38 matches in north London. Five of them came in the Champions League, as well, with one in the Carabao Cup and the other seven coming in the Premier League.

While it felt inevitable that Tottenham were going to make a change and sack Frank, it's now been revealed how much Spurs spent to bring Frank and his coaching staff to the club from Brentford last June.
Confirmation that Spurs paid £6.7m in compensation for Frank was revealed in Brentford's 2024/2025 accounts published on Wednesday. The accounts, which show a record turnover of £173m, reveal the expense Tottenham paid to recruit Frank after sacking Ange Postecoglou at the end of last season.

A note on Brentford's other operating income states that £6.7m was also received in a settlement agreement 'in relation to guaranteed compensation receivable in relation to the departure of on-field staff'.
The Guardianreport that, though Frank is not named, the figure is thought to relate to Tottenham's compensation payment for the head coach and his backroom staff Justin Cochrane, Chris Haslam, Joe Newton.
Frank signed a three-year contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and sacking him is now set to cost the club millions in more compensation. It's expected to weaken Spurs' Profit and Sustainability (PSR) position, and have an impact on the players the club can sign in the summer transfer window.
In a statement on Wednesday morning, Tottenham confirmed that Frank, who won just two of his final 17 Premier League matches in charge, will 'leave today'.
"The club has taken the decision to make a change in the men's head coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today," Spurs said. "Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together.
"However, results and performances have led the board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary. Throughout his time at the club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the club forward. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future."
Next up for Tottenham is a home game against arch rivals Arsenal on Sunday, February 22.
