The child form of Lord Krishna— Affectionately known as ‘Laddu Gopal’ is regarded as an integral member of the household. Devotees do not view Him merely as an idol, but rather serve Him with the same care and devotion one would bestow upon the youngest child of the family. A question that frequently arises in the minds of many devotees is: Is it permissible to keep more than one Laddu Gopal specifically, two Laddu Gopals in the home? And if one chooses to do so, what are the specific guidelines that must be followed?

It often happens that a Laddu Gopal is already established in the home when someone gifts us a second idol, or perhaps our heart simply feels drawn to another manifestation of His divine child form. According to the scriptures and established traditions, there is no prohibition against keeping two Laddu Gopals in the home; however, doing so effectively doubles the responsibility of 'Seva' (devotional service).

1. No Room for Discrimination

Just as a mother makes no distinction between her two children, you must serve both Laddu Gopals with equal devotion and impartiality. It would be inappropriate—and indeed, a lapse in service—if new clothes are purchased for the new Laddu Gopal while the older one is neglected. The adornment (Shringar) and the showering of affection upon both must be identical.

2. Guidelines for Offerings (Bhog) and Bathing

The very foundation of serving Laddu Gopal lies in His daily rituals (Nitya Karma). If you keep two Laddu Gopals, it is essential to wake them up together, bathe them together, and offer their food (Bhog) simultaneously. If you feed one but inadvertently forget to feed the other, this is considered a transgression (Dosh).

3. The Sentiment of Brotherhood
In the path of devotion (Bhakti), the underlying sentiment (*Bhav*) holds paramount importance. If you have two Laddu Gopals, you may choose to serve them by regarding them as elder and younger brothers (much like Lord Krishna and Lord Balarama). Cultivating this sentiment prevents discord within the home and fosters an atmosphere of love and harmony.

Mistakes You Must Strictly Avoid
Do Not Leave Them Alone: If you are planning to step out of the house, entrust Laddu Gopal to the care of neighbors or a trustworthy individual who can attend to His needs. Under no circumstances should you leave Him locked up alone inside the house.
