The BCCI named India's 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 set to be held in India and Sri Lanka, with Suryakumar Yadav leading the team along with Axar Patel as vice-captain.

Ishan Kishan has made a return to Men's T20 World Cup format, to play along with Hardik Pandya, Varun Chakravarthy and others.

This year, Suryakumar has scored just 213 runs at a shambolic average of 14.20, with a strike rate of just over 125 and no fifties in 20 matches and 18 innings.

Shubhman Gill, who failed to make a mention in the T20 squad, has not been in form as he missed the final T20I against South Africa due to a foot injury. However, he has fared better, but is yet to score a fifty in 15 innings since his T20I return and has scored just 291 runs at an average of 24.25 and an SR of over 137, missing out on some promising starts.

The marquee event is set to begin on February 7 with India and Sri Lanka jointly hosting the cricket series. The Indian team squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 was announced by skipper Suryakumar Yadav and chief selector Ajit Agarkar in Mumbai at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters on Saturday.

There is no stopping Team India this year as they just secured their eighth successive T20I series win and marked their 14th T20I successive series unbeaten after they beat South Africa by 30 runs at Ahmedabad.

India currently features in the 'Group A' of the upcoming cricket tournament. Other teams in the group include arch-rivals Pakistan, alongside Netherlands, USA, and Namibia.

India's first game will be played against USA on February 7 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Up next, India will face Namibia on February 12. One of the most anticipated matches of the T20 World Cup between India and Pakustan is scheduled for February 15.

Indian Men's cricket team chief selector, Ajit Agarkar and BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia were present at the headquarters for the announcement.
