Instagram: Instagram may introduce Snapchat-like 'Instants' feature, allowing you to send disappearing photos and videos..
Instagram may soon introduce a feature that directly competes with Snapchat. According to the latest reports, the Meta-owned platform is working on a new app and feature called "Instants." This feature will allow users to send disappearing photos and videos that automatically delete after being viewed.
According to reports, Meta is also currently testing a separate app called "Instants." This app will primarily focus on photos and videos that disappear after the receiver views them. This concept is similar to Snapchat's main feature, where users can set a timer to send photos or videos that automatically delete after a few seconds.
Currently, this app is in the company's internal prototype stage and is not available to general users.
In addition, Meta is also testing this Instant feature directly within the Instagram app. This feature was previously called 'Shots', but has now been renamed Instants. Currently, this feature is being tested among select users in limited countries.
This feature will work through Direct Messages (DMs) within Instagram. When users send a photo or video to someone, the content will disappear as soon as the recipient opens it.
Messages will automatically delete after 24 hours.
If a message remains unopened for 24 hours, it will automatically expire. Another notable feature is that this feature will only work between users who follow each other. Furthermore, there will be no option to edit media before sending.
Meta has not yet officially announced the Instants feature or a wider rollout of the app. However, if this feature launches, it could completely change the way private and temporary content is shared on Instagram.
