Kia's First Made-in-India Model Seltos Crosses 6 Lakh Sales Mark, Maintains Strong Run for Six Years
Kia India’s first made-in-India vehicle, the Kia Seltos, has achieved a major sales milestone by crossing 6 lakh units in the domestic market, underlining its sustained popularity since launch. Introduced in August 2019, the mid-size SUV has recorded cumulative wholesale sales of 6,02,390 units in India as of January 2026, while exports stand at approximately 1.6 lakh units
The Seltos played a pivotal role in establishing Kia as a mainstream automotive brand in India. With its combination of modern design, premium features, spacious cabin, and multiple powertrain options, the SUV quickly disrupted the mid-size SUV segment. Available in 16 variants, the Seltos attracted strong demand from the outset and entered the list of India’s top five utility vehicles within its first month of sales.
Second-Generation Kia Seltos LaunchedOn January 2, 2026
The new-generation Seltos has already contributed to renewed sales momentum for Kia India. The SUV recently recorded monthly sales of over 10,000 units
However, competition in the mid-size SUV segment remains intense, with rivals including the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, Tata Curvv, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and MG Astor
The new Kia Seltos is offered with three engine options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine. All powertrains are available with both manual and automatic transmission options. According to the company, the diesel automatic variant delivers a fuel efficiency of 19.1 km/l
The Seltos continues to focus on premium appeal, offering features such as leatherette upholstery, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and a head-up display
With consistent sales performance over six years and a strong response to its second-generation update, the Kia Seltos remains a key pillar of the company’s growth strategy in India.
