A Disturbing Crime That Shook Rudrapur

A deeply disturbing crime has come to light from Rudrapur city in Uttarakhand, where a 25-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted inside a moving car after being offered a lift. The incident, which reportedly took place in the Transit Camp area, has raised serious concerns about women’s safety and misuse of trust on deserted roads.

According to police sources, the woman was on her way to Pantnagar for work early in the morning, following her daily routine. While traveling, two men approached her and offered to drop her at her destination. Believing their assurances, she accepted the lift—unaware that the decision would soon turn into a traumatic experience.

How a Routine Commute Turned Horrific

The victim told the police that after driving for some distance, the accused deliberately diverted the car towards an isolated route.

When she questioned the change in direction and protested, her objections were ignored. Taking advantage of the deserted surroundings, one of the men reportedly moved to the back seat and forcibly assaulted her while the vehicle was still in motion.

The entire episode unfolded so suddenly that the woman was left shocked and helpless. After committing the crime, the accused allegedly abandoned her at a lonely spot and fled the scene.

Victim Shows Courage, Approaches Police

Despite the trauma, the woman gathered courage and approached the local police station to file a complaint. Acting swiftly on her statement, the police registered an FIR under strict provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 70(1) and 351(2), which deal with serious sexual offenses and criminal acts.

Law enforcement officials emphasized that the case was treated as a priority due to the gravity of the allegations.

Forensic Evidence Plays a Crucial Role

Following the registration of the case, police teams launched an intensive investigation. On Monday, the first accused, a 34-year-old man, was arrested from his residence. The vehicle allegedly used in the crime was also seized.

A district forensic science team examined the car and recovered critical evidence, including strands of the victim’s hair and other forensic materials. Based on these findings and further interrogation, the second accused, aged 36, was arrested later the same day.

The arrests were made through a coordinated operation involving the Special Operations Group (SOG) and the city police. Officials stated that the evidence collected so far strongly supports the victim’s complaint, and the accused will face strict legal action.
