Newspoint

Amidst the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, public anxiety regarding the availability of cooking gas (LPG) within the country has been on the rise. In several regions, consumers fear that the supply of gas cylinders might be disrupted, potentially leading to difficulties in cooking meals at home. However, the Central Government has clarified that the supply of domestic LPG remains completely secure and that priority is being accorded to the needs of ordinary consumers.

The government asserts that necessary measures have been implemented to ensure the continued availability of domestic cooking gas; therefore, there is no need for the public to panic.

The mandatory waiting period between booking two LPG cylinders in the country has currently been extended from 21 days to 25 days. For rural customers, this interval has been set at 45 days. Meanwhile, complaints have surfaced from various locations alleging that certain gas dealers are delaying cylinder deliveries or attempting to demand extra payments. If a consumer fails to receive a timely delivery despite having booked a cylinder, or if a dealer engages in arbitrary practices, they may register a complaint directly with the respective gas company's helpline.

Government Issues Advisory
The government has advised the public against booking cylinders in haste out of anxiety over rumors regarding a gas shortage. The Ministry states that there are currently adequate reserves of LPG available within the country to meet domestic requirements. Furthermore, as a precautionary measure, refinery companies have increased LPG production by approximately 25%. The government also clarified that, should supplies passing through the Strait of Hormuz be disrupted, India has already prepared alternative options for procuring crude oil from other nations to ensure that the country's energy supply remains largely unaffected.
