Mahindra XEV 9S vs XUV700: How Do These Two Stylish SUVs Differ in Design? Exterior and Interior Compared

Newspoint

Mahindra has launched its new electric SUV, the XEV 9S, in India in four variants: Pack One Above, Pack Two Above, Pack Three, and Pack Three Above. Because the XEV 9S inherits many styling cues from the XUV700, both SUVs look similar at first glance. To help buyers understand their differences, here is a detailed comparison of their exterior and interior designs.

Mahindra XEV 9S vs XUV700: Exterior Design

Hero Image
The most noticeable differences between the two SUVs appear at the front. The XEV 9S gets a futuristic EV-style fascia, similar to the XEV 9e. It features a closed-off grille with Mahindra’s Infiniti logo, a split-headlight setup, inverted L-shaped connected LED DRLs, and a larger bumper with a two-part skid plate.

The XUV700, being an ICE SUV, looks more muscular and traditional. It sports LED headlamps with signature C-shaped DRLs and LED fog lamps with a cornering function. Both SUVs offer front parking sensors and a radar module for Level 2 ADAS on the bumper.

Side Profile Comparison

Viewed from the side, both SUVs look alike due to features such as flush door handles, blacked-out B, C, and D pillars, and a window line that curves upward near the C-pillar. The XEV 9S also comes with roof rails, like the XUV700.
A key difference: the EV gets its charging port in the same area where the XUV700 houses its fuel cap.

Wheels
Both SUVs ride on 18-inch alloy wheels.

The XEV 9S receives aero-optimized alloys to improve driving range, whereas the XUV700 gets stylish dual-tone multi-spoke wheels suited to its robust ICE design.

Rear Design
From the rear, the two SUVs appear similar, but the XEV 9S has unique EV-specific touches like a redesigned Infiniti logo, a new connecting black strip between the LED tail-lamps with updated internal elements, and a two-part skid plate mirroring the front bumper.

The XUV700 comes with a large silver-finish skid plate for a more rugged look.

Mahindra XEV 9S vs XUV700: Cabin and Interior
Both SUVs feature a dual-tone interior, but the XEV 9S feels more premium owing to its cleaner dashboard design. It gets:
• A new 2-spoke steering wheel
• A triple-screen layout (as seen on the XEV 9E)

The XUV700, meanwhile, features:
• An integrated dual-display setup

• A conventional 3-spoke steering wheel

Both use soft-touch materials, but the XEV 9S adds EV-specific elements like redesigned AC vents and ambient lighting—features missing in the XUV700.
