Major Shift: AAP Rajya Sabha MPs Merge with BJP
Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, and Ashok Mittal, members of the Rajya Sabha, have officially met with Nitin Nabin, the National President of the BJP, at the party headquarters. In a significant political move, more than two-thirds of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs in the Rajya Sabha have declared their merger with the BJP. Chadha shared on social media that today, utilizing the provisions of the Indian Constitution, over two-thirds of AAP's Rajya Sabha members have joined the BJP. Seven MPs have signed the document that was submitted to the honorable Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. Along with two other MPs, I personally handed over the signed document.
Earlier, during a press conference with Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal, Raghav Chadha stated that as two-thirds of the AAP members in the Rajya Sabha, they have decided to merge with the BJP, following the constitutional provisions of India. Chadha, Mittal, and Pathak have been Rajya Sabha members representing AAP since 2022. He expressed that the Aam Aadmi Party, which he has nurtured with dedication and invested 15 years of his youth, has completely strayed from its principles, values, and core beliefs.
He accused the party of no longer working for the nation or the public interest, but rather for personal gain. Many of you have been telling me this for years, and I have personally felt that I am in the wrong party as the right person. I reiterate, 'I am the right person in the wrong party.' Therefore, today I announce my separation from the Aam Aadmi Party and my return to the public.
Chadha further stated that they, as two-thirds of the AAP MPs in the Rajya Sabha, will utilize the provisions of the Indian Constitution to merge with the BJP. He mentioned that there are 10 AAP MPs in the Rajya Sabha, and more than two-thirds of them are supporting this move. They have signed the necessary documents, which were submitted to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha this morning. Among those present are Harbhajan Singh, Rajinder Gupta, Vikram Sahni, and Swati Maliwal.
