To join the NDA, you must have passed the 12th grade in any stream. Math and Physics are mandatory for the Navy and Air Force. Students currently taking the 12th grade can also apply, provided they pass. Marriage during training in the NDA is prohibited, as marriage results in a candidate being expelled from training and may require the government to reimburse the expenses incurred.

What is the required age to join the NDA?


To join the NDA, candidates must be between 16.5 and 19.5 years old. Age is calculated from the date the course begins. There are no exemptions for any category. Married candidates cannot apply for the NDA; only unmarried men and women are eligible.

What happens after passing the NDA?
After passing the NDA, candidates undergo training and can then become officers in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force. They begin with a Lieutenant rank and can advance to the ranks of Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel, Brigadier, Major General, and Lieutenant General. A stipend is provided during training at the NDA. During the three years of training, approximately ₹56,100 is received as a monthly stipend. After completing training, when you become a Lieutenant, your salary starts at ₹56,100 and increases as you progress through the ranks. In addition, benefits such as dearness allowance, house rent, transport allowance, and military service pay are also available. Additionally, benefits such as government housing, free medical treatment, child education assistance, rations, and post-retirement pension are also available.

How and Where Does NDA Training Take Place?


NDA training lasts three years, encompassing both academic and military training. Candidates are trained at the NDA Khadakwasla, Pune, and the INA, Ezhimala. Upon completion, a bachelor's degree is awarded from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), which can be in science, arts, or computer science. Candidates then proceed to their respective specialized academies. Training takes place at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, for the Army, the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, for the Navy, and the Air Force Academy (AFA), Hyderabad for the Air Force.

When Does Joining Take Place?


During training, special emphasis is placed on discipline, fitness, and leadership skills. After completing their academy training, candidates are commissioned as officers in the Indian Armed Forces. Passing the NDA makes you fully prepared to serve your country.
