What is Ne Zha 2 about?
Ne Zha 2 (2025) continues the story from the 2019 film. It follows Ne Zha and Ao Bing after their physical forms are destroyed. Their souls are saved by Master Taiyi using the Seven-Colored Sacred Lotus, but the revival comes at a cost. The two end up sharing a single body.
They are given one week to pass the dangerous “Ascension Trial” set by Immortal Wuliang at the Jade Palace. If they succeed, they will earn an elixir that can restore their separate forms. The narrative unfolds against a backdrop of divine politics, betrayal and shifting loyalties.
The sequel also expands the roles of characters like the Dragon King Ao Guang and Shen Gongbao, adding more layers to the conflict. Themes of destiny, resistance and identity run through the story, while the action sequences and CGI scale are noticeably bigger than the first film.

The film features returning voice actors in Mandarin, including Lü Yanting as child Ne Zha, Joseph Cao as the teen version, Han Mo as Ao Bing, Chen Hao as Li Jing, Lü Qi as Lady Yin, Zhang Jiaming as Taiyi Zhenren and Wang Deshun as Master Wuliang.
