New Amrit Bharat train service to connect Nagercoil and Mangaluru
A new Amrit Bharat Express train service connecting Nagercoil and Mangaluru Junction is set to be launched, enhancing rail connectivity across Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.
The new service is expected to benefit lakhs of passengers by linking major cultural, educational, commercial and pilgrimage centres across the three States. The train will operate as a weekly service and will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Thiruvananthapuram on January 23, along with two other Amrit Bharat trains.
The 22-coach Amrit Bharat train will not have air-conditioned coaches. It will comprise 11 general coaches and eight second sleeper coaches. The train numbers for the Nagercoil–Mangaluru service will be 16329 and 16330.
The train will depart from Nagercoil at 11.40 a.m. on Tuesdays and reach Mangaluru on Wednesday morning. From Mangaluru, it will depart at 8 a.m. on Wednesdays and reach Nagercoil the same night. The detailed timetable is yet to be announced.
