Nitte: Lorry overturns onto pedestrian after hitting car, several injured

Karkala: A lorry transporting eggs from Davanagere to Mangaluru was involved in a serious accident on Monday morning after the driver lost control and rammed into a car near Nitte village in Karkala taluk.

The accident occurred around 8.30 am in front of the Nitte gram panchayat office. According to the police, the lorry was moving at high speed when it collided with an oncoming car. The impact left the car badly damaged, and its driver sustained injuries.

In the same incident, the lorry also hit a pedestrian who was walking along the roadside. The pedestrian suffered severe injuries to his legs. Both injured persons were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Thousands of eggs being transported in the lorry were scattered across the road and damaged in the crash, resulting in losses worth several lakh rupees. The accident led to temporary disruption of traffic on the stretch.

Rural police reached the spot, carried out an inspection, and cleared the road to restore vehicle movement. Further investigation is underway.
