PhonePe: Now you can make payments up to Rs 5000 on PhonePe without a PIN, know what this new feature is..
PhonePe: Digital payments have grown rapidly in the country, and today, most people use UPI for everything from shopping to bill payments. Mobile payments have become commonplace everywhere, from small shops to large malls. In response to this growing demand, PhonePe has made a significant change for its users.
Now, entering a PIN will no longer be required for UPI transactions up to ₹5,000. The company has introduced biometric authentication, allowing users to make payments using fingerprint or face unlock. This means that small everyday purchases will no longer require a lengthy process.
This feature is especially beneficial for those who make small payments multiple times a day, such as for groceries, medicines, food delivery, or cab fare. For transactions up to ₹5,000, the smartphone's built-in security system will act as a second layer of security. This means that if you have a fingerprint or face lock set on your phone, the payment will be completed using that method.
However, the UPI PIN will remain required for large-value transactions. The company states that security has not been compromised. The move is intended to simplify the payment process and save time.
Currently, this feature is only available for Android smartphone users. The company has hinted that it may be rolled out to iPhone users in the future.
How to use it?
To use this feature, first open the app and go to your profile.
Here, you'll find the 'Manage Payments' option.
Next, select the biometric payment option and activate it for your bank account.
During the first setup, you'll need to verify with both the UPI PIN and biometrics.
Once the process is complete, transactions up to ₹5,000 can be made without a PIN.
Overall, this change is considered a major step towards making digital payments easier and faster.
