Poetry and Profanities Instead of Answers in Semester Exams! University Shocked After Reviewing 5,000 Answer Sheets
At a university in Prayagraj, students wrote poetry, song lyrics, and profanities instead of actual answers in nearly 5,000 semester exam answer sheets; consequently, they were awarded zero marks and failed.
University examinations typically play a pivotal role in shaping a student’s future. However, a case has emerged in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, that has left everyone astonished. At a local university, students, instead of providing answers to the questions in their semester exam papers, filled the sheets with poetry, lines from songs, and even abusive language.
This incident reportedly took place at the Professor Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) State University in Prayagraj. When the examination results were declared and a large number of students failed, they staged protests. It was in the wake of these protests—when the details of the matter came to light—that the university administration was left in shock.
Poetry and Profanities Found Written in Answer Sheets
The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Akhilesh Kumar Singh, stated that when the faculty members began evaluating the answer sheets, several bizarre anomalies came to light. He noted that in thousands of answer sheets, students had written film songs, poetry, and expletives instead of providing correct answers to the questions. Some students went so far as to simply copy the entire questions verbatim into their answer sheets without providing any corresponding answers. In some sheets, students even wrote notes claiming they were ill or could not recall the answers, pleading to be passed regardless.
Such Students Awarded Zero Marks
During the evaluation process, students whose answer sheets contained poetry or profanities instead of actual answers were awarded zero marks. The university administration emphasized that examinations constitute a serious academic process, and such conduct cannot be tolerated. The Vice-Chancellor further added that these specific answer sheets have been segregated, and a comprehensive list of such cases has been compiled.
Such Instances Found in the Answer Sheets of 5,000 Students
According to the university, such content was discovered in the answer sheets of approximately 5,000 students. This is the primary reason why such a large number of students failed the examinations. Consequently, this situation has also had a significant impact on the university’s overall examination results. While the overall pass percentage stood at approximately 89 percent last year, it has dropped to around 82 percent this time.
Uproar Ensued Following the Release of Results
As soon as the results for the semester examinations were declared, thousands of students were found to have failed. Subsequently, a large number of students gathered on the university campus and began staging protests. The students alleged that their answer sheets had not been evaluated properly and that they had been unfairly failed. In light of the escalating student protests, the university administration released details regarding the matter to the public. The university administration is now taking this issue seriously. According to the Vice-Chancellor, notices may also be issued to the parents of those students who wrote inappropriate remarks in their answer sheets.
