Newspoint

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-G) is a major relief for poor and homeless families living in rural areas. This is a flagship scheme of the central government, aimed at providing permanent housing to those living in kutcha or dilapidated houses in villages. Under this scheme, every eligible family is provided with a house of at least 25 square meters with basic amenities, including a clean kitchen space.

The government identifies beneficiaries based on the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC). This is followed by verification by the Gram Sabha. Upon approval, the funds are transferred directly to the beneficiary's Aadhaar-linked bank or post office account, ensuring transparency.
