Princess Kate's subtle gesture reminds the nation where her true priorities lie
There are few greater tests that exist than the one Princess Kate has been put through, but throughout it all, she has made it clear that more than ever, her family will come first. That was unmistakably clear as she stepped out on Thursday wearing a necklace with her children's G, C and L initials taking pride of place.
This week has been a busy one for the Princess as she has made several joy-filled appearances - and with her key role in President Donald Trump's State Visit next week confirmed, the exciting appearances will keep rolling in.
But what is important to remember is that the Princess' gradual return to public life is one that will be measured and dependant on so many factors, chief among them the needs and feelings of her children.

We should spare a thought for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Yes, they have been born into a world of huge privilege, but in the space of three short years, they have witnessed the passing of their great-grandmother, a grandfather who has been diagnosed with cancer and a mother - the centre of their world - also made vulnerable by this cruel sledgehammer of a disease.
Those children deserve to have their mum with them for as long as they need her - and vice versa.
After all, there is no escaping the fact that Catherine is simply a heartbeat away from being our next Queen where a busy schedule and a life of duty go hand in hand.
The Princess said it best herself. "Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown. The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you."
Getting to the impressive position where she is now has been no mean feat and has taken a great deal of hard work.
Naturally she has had many figures to draw from - the natural dignity of Queen Elizabeth II and the unwavering guidance of Prince William top the list - but there is someone else, too.
She is the daughter King Charles never had and now deeply cherishes thanks to the unfaltering support she gives William, her devotion to motherhood and the effortless way she has navigated her royal assent - from shy starter to a well-versed royal matriarch in the making.
And who can say fairer than that!
