Restrictions imposed on 22 tourist spots in Chikkamagaluru for New Year celebrations

Chikkamagaluru: As the coffee land prepares to welcome the New Year, the district administration has imposed strict measures to ensure tourist safety and to prevent any untoward incidents.

Deputy Commissioner Meena Nagaraj has issued orders imposing temporary restrictions on tourist entry to 22 major destinations in the district, including Mullayanagiri and Kemmanagundi.

As per the order, tourists are prohibited from visiting these locations from 6 pm on December 31 to 6 am on January 1. The restrictions are aimed at maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety during the New Year celebrations.

Tourists who have already booked homestays and resorts located along the restricted routes through online platforms will be allowed to travel only to their respective accommodations. However, other tourists will not be permitted beyond the Javarain check post in Chikkamagaluru taluk towards destinations such as Mullayanagiri, Seethalayyanagiri, Manikyadhara, Jhari Falls, Honnammanahalla Galikere and Hirekolale Lake.

Similarly, tourist entry has been temporarily banned to Diamond Falls in Kamenahalli village; Ettinabhuja, Devaramane, Rani Jhari, Ballalarayana Durga, Bandaje Falls and Kudige Falls in Mudigere taluk; Kyatanamakki, Rudrapada, Thoogu Bridge and Abbugudige Falls in Kalasa taluk; and Ayyanakere, Madagadakere in Kadur taluk. Restrictions also apply to Kemmanagundi, Kallathiri and Hebbe Falls in Tarikere taluk.

Police deployment:
Heavy police deployment has been arranged at the entry points and check posts of all tourist destinations. Police officials have also warned that special vigilance will be maintained against drunk driving and other violations during the restricted period.
