SBI's Major Warning! Scammers Are Draining YONO Users' Accounts—Never Make This Mistake!
SBI Alert: SBI Bank has issued an alert to its customers regarding a specific scam. The bank has stated that no customer should fall prey to any scheme falsely claiming to be a "new YONO initiative," as the bank is currently not running any such program.
YONO Scam Alert: As India becomes increasingly digitized, the prevalence of scams is rising in tandem. The number of scammers operating within the digital banking sector is also on a continuous upward trajectory. Almost daily, reports surface of individuals falling victim to some form of fraud. Consequently, the State Bank of India (SBI) has issued a cautionary advisory to its customers, urging them to protect themselves against such scammers. The bank has issued a crucial warning specifically for users of the YONO app. SBI has highlighted that cyber fraudsters are employing novel methods to target customers, and even a minor lapse in caution could result in an account being completely drained of funds.
Fraud Perpetrated in the Name of YONO
Essentially, scammers are currently creating fake pages on social media platforms under the guise of "YONO SBI" in an attempt to defraud people. These scammers run deceptive sponsored advertisements containing messages such as: "Forgot your username or password? Click this link to recover it instantly." In response to this, SBI has issued a clear warning: do not click on any such links. These links are entirely fraudulent and are designed to steal your banking credentials.
Stay Cautious, Stay Vigilant
If a user clicks on such a link and enters their personal details, they risk falling victim to fraud almost immediately. Therefore, the bank advises users to strictly use only the official YONO SBI app or the bank's official website. Furthermore, users should never share personal details in response to any unfamiliar links, text messages, or phone calls. In particular, you must *never* share your OTP (One-Time Password) or account password with anyone.
Scammers May Call Posing as Bank Officials
Additionally, according to SBI, fraudsters may attempt to contact you via phone calls, SMS, or emails while falsely identifying themselves as bank officials. They attempt to obtain sensitive information from users by enticing them with offers related to KYC updates, warnings about account suspension, or the allure of reward points. The bank has clarified that no official will ever request an OTP, PIN, password, or card details via phone call or text message. If anyone does so, they are undoubtedly engaging in fraud. Users of the YONO SBI app, in particular, need to remain vigilant, as this application is directly linked to their bank accounts.
The Number from Which the Bank Calls
Furthermore, the bank has advised users to remain cautious regarding phone calls received in the bank's name. Typically, official calls from SBI originate from numbers beginning with "1600." If you receive a call from any other number, you should treat it as suspicious and refrain from sharing any personal details. If you have fallen victim to any form of fraud, do not delay; immediately call the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930 to register a complaint. Additionally, you can file a complaint online at cybercrime.gov.in.
