Iran is engaged in a fresh round of negotiations with the United States and is awaiting the outcome of the talks currently underway in Muscat, Iran’s Ambassador to India Mohammad Fathali said on Friday. “We are in the negotiations now. We started the second round of negotiations. We are waiting for the results,” he said in response to a question from ANI.

Speaking on the sidelines of an event marking the 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Fathali said Iran remained a strong and influential regional power despite sustained external pressure. He highlighted the country’s progress in advanced technologies such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, stem cell research, information technology and artificial intelligence, saying these developments had positioned Iran among the region’s leading nations in scientific production.

The ambassador also underscored the strategic importance of the Chabahar Port, calling it a vital connectivity hub for access to Afghanistan and Central Asia. He said Iran shared strong relations with several countries, “particularly India,” and emphasised the need to further boost and expand bilateral ties.

Chabahar Port has long been seen as a key pillar of India–Iran cooperation, offering New Delhi an alternative trade route to Central Asia while bypassing Pakistan.
