South Korean woman allegedly sexually harassed during check at Bengaluru airport

An incident of alleged sexual harassment of a South Korean woman under the pretext of inspection has been reported at Kempegowda International Airport, according to KIAL airport police.

The incident occurred on January 19, when the foreign national arrived at the airport to travel to South Korea. Airport staff member Afan Ahmed has been arrested in connection with the case.

Police said that during ticket checking, the accused claimed that a beeping sound was coming from the woman’s bag and told her that a separate inspection was required. He allegedly took her to a men’s restroom and, under the guise of checking, behaved inappropriately and harassed her.

The woman later approached airport security personnel and lodged a complaint. The accused was immediately detained and handed over to airport police. CCTV footage has reportedly confirmed the sequence of events.

A case has been registered, and the accused has been arrested. Further investigation is underway. The case has been booked under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
