The method of booking general and platform tickets has changed from today. Learn about the new rules.
General Platform Ticket Booking: A major change has been implemented for train travelers across the country. Online booking of general and platform tickets will now be done through a new app.
General Platform Ticket Booking: Millions of people travel by train every day in the country. Some have to go to work, some have to travel to another city for studies, and some commute daily. In such situations, mobile apps for general and platform tickets were a great relief. To avoid long queues, most passengers used the UTS app.
But as of March 1, Indian Railways has discontinued this old and popular app. Now, the method of ticket booking has changed. The Railways says that the new system will be more modern and convenient. So now the question is where to get tickets and what new benefits will be available. Take a look.
Which app will tickets be booked through now?
After the UTS app is discontinued, general tickets will now be booked through RailOne. This platform is authorized by IRCTC and has been developed as a unified ticketing system. Now, reservation tickets, general tickets, and platform tickets can all be booked from a single app. The need for separate apps has been eliminated. Users can log in with their old mobile number, making the transition smooth and keeping their data safe.
What are the benefits of the new app?
The RailOne app features improved server speeds and a simplified interface, ensuring no delays in ticket booking. Multiple payment options are available, including UPI, debit cards, credit cards, and net banking. Viewing ticket history and obtaining refunds have been made more straightforward. The Railways claims this will reduce the problem of transaction failures. The app's performance is also promised to be stable even during peak hours, making bookings easier even during office hours or festivals.
New Features That Will Be Useful
RailOne is not just a ticket booking app. It offers features like live train status, PNR check, train search, and digital ticket storage all in one place. QR code-based ticketing will make the checking process faster and paperless. Most reassuringly, the R Wallet balance from the old UTS app will be transferred to the new system upon logging in with the same mobile number. This means your money and records will remain safe. Overall, the Railways have attempted to simplify and streamline ticketing by bringing it to a single platform.
