The new version of Siri will be launched this year

Apple has made significant preparations for Siri and is now looking to transform it into an AI chatbot. Having lagged behind Google and OpenAI in generative AI, Apple is unwilling to wait any longer. The company will build the new Siri on Google's Gemini AI model and launch it this year. Apple has codenamed this project Campos, and this update will completely change how Siri works. With the arrival of the new Siri, the existing interface will change, and it will function like a conversational chatbot.

How will the new Siri work?

According to reports, the method of summoning Siri will remain the same. Users will be able to activate Siri by saying "Hey Siri" or holding the side button, but it will do so in a manner similar to the ChatGPT and Gemini chatbots, where users will be able to interact with it in a natural way. The new Siri will include features such as web searching, content creation, image generation, summarizing information, and analyzing uploaded files. Apple is aiming to directly compete with Gemini and ChatGPT with this.

Will be embedded in iOS 27

The new Siri will be embedded in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. Instead of launching as a standalone app, it will be integrated into Apple's core apps, allowing users to perform tasks like editing photos, drafting emails, and searching for messages or files simply by giving voice commands. Apple is expected to showcase it at its WWDC event in June, and it could be rolled out to users by September. Before that, Apple will roll out the iOS 26.4 update, which will upgrade Apple Intelligence.

Apple's partnership with Google

Apple and Google recently announced a partnership, which will see Google's Gemini model used to power AI features on Apple devices and services. This partnership also led to the announcement of a new version of Siri.
