'To Each Their Own' Danish Pandor aka Uzair Baloch Defends Dhurandhar Against 'Propaganda'
Dhurandhar: The Revenge has already emerged as the highest-grossing Hindi film and is nearing the completion of a successful two-week theatrical run. While the film is largely driven by Ranveer Singh’s commanding performance, the entire ensemble has received widespread appreciation.
Among them, Danish Pandor, who portrays Uzair Baloch, has been particularly noticed. In a recent interaction, he spoke about his experience working on the film, collaborating with Aditya Dhar, the much-discussed football sequence, the overwhelming audience response, and the conversations around the film’s political undertones, among other aspects.
Several users called Dhurandhar
He added, “As far as political leaning is concerned, interpretation can go to any extent, it is a very subjective thing. It is more like a narrative rooted in a certain perspective, like most films are. People would discuss about it, people won’t discuss about it, it varies from person to person; to each their own.”
About the much talked-about head-football scene, Danish stated, “For me, it was less about performing and more about understand that what was happening in that scene. It had to very nuanced, and there is a very thin line where it might just go completely flat or over the top and you can’t let that happen. Today’s audience is very sharp, they can easily see the intent, and the moment they see that this thing is not culminating into something very authentic, they will shun it down.”
Uzair Baloch’s character was loved by audiences, but he got lesser screentime compared to other characters in Dhurandhar 2.
“I was quite aware of the script well in advance. I knew what was going to happen, and I am eternally grateful for the opportunity I got and the character of Uzair Baloch. I can’t say anything beyond that. I have no complaints, personally,” said Danish.
He added, “As far as the screen time, I had scenes, and they were very impactful. The second part was all about the revenge it was mainly about Hamza Ali Mazari (and Jaskirat Singh Rangi). He was on a mission and had to fulfil that mission, and the story went on like that. I would never say that okay, why I did I have less screen time. But the thing is, whatever I had was beautiful and very impactful, and people have taken it very beautifully, giving so much of love to it. No complaints whatsoever. Just being a part of this humongous project in itself is a big deal for me. I was one of the lucky ones to have a pivotal role in picture with a big franchise.”
Helmed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar 2 is still running in theatres starring Ranveer Singh, Rakesh Bedi, Sara Arjun, and Arjun Rampal in the lead roles.
It tells the story of an Indian spy Jaskirat Singh Rangi, who infiltrates the Lyari underworld.
