Viral Video; T20 World Cup 2026: USA players smitten by pani puri
Mumbai: As the countdown for the T20 World Cup 2026 begins, players from the visiting United States of America (USA) team have fallen in love with Mumbai's street food. A video of the American cricketers savoring the famous 'Pani Puri' (Golgappa) on the streets of Mumbai has gone viral on social media following their practice match against India A at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
In the warm up match held ahead of the World Cup, India A batted first and posted a massive total of 238 runs in 20 overs. This was powered by a brilliant century from N. Jagadeesan (104) and an unbeaten 60 from Ayush Badoni. Chasing the target, the USA team was bowled out for 200 runs despite brave efforts from Andries Gous and Sanjay Krishnamurthi, resulting in a 38 run defeat.
Despite the loss on the field, the players set aside their disappointment to embrace Indian culture. They were seen lining up at a roadside stall to enjoy the spicy and sweet flavors of Pani Puri.
Visa Hurdles for Four Players: No Green Signal Yet
While the team is practicing in India, four key players have been unable to join the squad due to visa issues. Pakistani origin players Ali Khan, Shayan Jahangir, Mohammad Mohsin, and Ehsan Adil are still waiting for their visa approvals.
Due to their Pakistani heritage, their applications are undergoing thorough security screenings. Although the visas have not been rejected, the USA Cricket Board is concerned as only a few days remain before the tournament begins.
India vs USA on February 7
The USA team is set to face a formidable Indian side in a Group A match on February 7 at the historic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After surprising everyone by reaching the Super 8 stage in the last World Cup, the USA is eager to give tough competition to giants like India and Pakistan once again.
