It is reported that if India wants ships flying its flag or headed for its country to be allowed to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz, it must accept Iran's conditions. Iran is demanding the release of three tankers that India seized in February. In simple terms, India is facing a "take-one-give-one" situation.

Iran is demanding the release of three tankers from India.

India reportedly seized three tankers in February – the Asphalt Star oil tanker, the Al Jafzjia oil tanker, and the Stellar Ruby oil tanker.

These vessels were accused of concealing their true identities at sea and engaging in illegal ship-to-ship oil transfers. One of these vessels was reported to be flying the Iranian flag, while the other two flew the flags of different countries. Following this action, the matter became serious, and Iran is now demanding the release of these vessels. It is believed that diplomatic talks are underway between the two countries regarding this issue.

Medicines and medical equipment were also demanded.

According to sources, Tehran has demanded not only the release of the tankers but also the supply of certain medicines and medical equipment. According to reports, Iran's ambassador to India met with officials from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi to discuss the entire matter. While the Indian government has yet to issue a statement regarding these talks, it is clear that negotiations between the two countries are ongoing and efforts are being made to find a solution.

A ship carrying LPG reached India safely

Meanwhile, some reassuring news has also emerged. The Indian ship Shivalik, carrying approximately 40,000 metric tons of LPG, arrived safely at the Mundra Port in Gujarat on Monday evening. The ship arrived in India after passing through the Strait of Hormuz without any obstacles. Officials stated that special arrangements were made at the port to expedite the unloading process. Additionally, the Jag Girl oil tanker, carrying approximately 81,000 tons of crude oil from the United Arab Emirates, is also safely on its way to India.

India is talking to Iran

Amid rising tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States, India is also concerned about its energy security. Foreign Minister Jaishankar stated that direct dialogue with Iran is the most effective path forward. He explained that the Strait of Hormuz carries approximately 20 percent of the world's oil trade, making its openness crucial to the global economy.
