According to a report by Al Arabiya, citing Israeli media, Tehran has agreed to engage in talks with Washington in an effort to reach an agreement. The development suggests a potential shift toward dialogue after prolonged hostility.

The report surfaced as US President Donald Trump revealed that recent discussions between the two sides had already yielded progress. Speaking to reporters, Trump said talks held on Sunday led to what he described as “major points of agreement".

He added that the discussions are ongoing and could soon pave the way for a broader deal aimed at resolving the conflict. Key figures involved in the negotiations reportedly include US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner.

Trump expressed confidence in the leadership he is engaging with, stating the United States was “dealing with the man who I believe is the most respected and the leader," while also noting that Iran “had some leaders left".

However, the situation remains unclear. Iran’s Fars news agency pushed back against the claims, citing a source who denied any direct or indirect communication with the US, offering a sharply different version of events.

Deal Within Days?

Despite the conflicting narratives, Trump struck an optimistic tone about the pace of progress. He suggested that the talks, which have been ongoing for some time, have now entered a more decisive phase.

“With Iran, we’ve been negotiating for a long time, and this time, they mean business," Trump said during remarks in Memphis, Tennessee.

He also revealed that Washington is allowing a brief window for negotiations to move forward.

“We’re giving it five days, and then we’re going to see where that takes us. And I would say at the end of this period, I think it could very well end up being a very good deal for everybody," Trump said.

As both sides offer contrasting signals, the coming days could prove critical in determining whether this moment leads to a breakthrough, or fades into yet another missed opportunity.
