Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], September 8: The NESCO Centre in Mumbai transformed into a vibrant hub of endurance and community spirit on Sunday as it hosted the third edition of HYROX, the global fitness racing series.

With participation exceeding 3,350 individuals across various categories including Singles, Doubles, Relay, and Pro, this event has been recognized as the largest fitness race ever conducted in India, according to a statement from HYROX.

The event showcased the signature HYROX race format, which consists of eight 1 km runs combined with eight functional fitness challenges such as SkiErg, Sledge Push, Sledge Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps, Rowing, Farmers Carry, Sandbag Lunges, and Wall Balls, pushing athletes of all skill levels to their limits.

The diversity of participants was a highlight of HYROX Mumbai. Among them was 16-year-old Shivanjali Mitkari from Pune, the youngest competitor, and 70-year-old Mohan Moyara from Surat, Gujarat, the oldest participant, demonstrating that fitness transcends age. Adding to the excitement, popular singer Dhvani Bhanushali participated in the Doubles category, racing alongside everyday athletes.

Prashant Arkal, a 40-year-old IT professional living with polio, competed in the Adaptives category using a wheelchair, embodying the inclusive spirit of HYROX. His involvement reflects the sport's commitment to fostering a community where every athlete feels welcomed.

“Regardless of age or ability, everyone should challenge themselves and push their limits, which is what makes HYROX unique. The atmosphere at the registration was electric, with cheers and encouragement all around. It’s inspiring to think that I might motivate someone else,” Prashant expressed.

This dynamic blend of ages, backgrounds, and passions turned the NESCO Centre into more than just a race venue; it became a thriving community of fitness enthusiasts. HYROX Mumbai celebrated not just competition but also the joy of movement shared among families and teammates.

Leanne M. and Danielle C., participants from the UK, returned for their second HYROX Mumbai event, achieving a time of 1:02.23 in the Pro Women’s Doubles. “This is our second time racing in Mumbai, and it went as smoothly as the last. The course was well-organized, and the staff did an excellent job. The support from strangers along the course is uplifting. Everyone is here to have a great time, and the energy is fantastic,” they remarked.

The excitement extended beyond the race, with PUMA India creating unique experiences for fans and athletes in the Partner’s Zone, featuring Braiding & Tattoo stations and Customization booths. The PUMA x HYROX AH25 collection and new footwear were also major attractions for participants and spectators.

Karthik Balagopalan, Managing Director of PUMA India, commented, “HYROX has quickly evolved into more than just a fitness race; it’s becoming a cultural phenomenon. The energy and camaraderie displayed by participants in the previous editions highlight how Indian athletes and fitness enthusiasts have embraced HYROX. Mumbai thrives on passion and movement, and witnessing this community come together for the third edition is incredibly exciting. As a leading sports brand, PUMA is proud to support a movement that is redefining fitness in India.”

With growing enthusiasm, HYROX is set to return to India in April 2026, hosting the country's first two-day HYROX festival.
