The Unique Identification Authority of India ( UIDAI ) issues the Aadhaar card to every Indian resident, providing a 12-digit individual identification number serving as proof of identity and address nationwide. To ensure the continued authenticity of Aadhaar, it is recommended to regularly verify and update the associated details.

The newly introduced digitally signed QR code can only be decoded using UIDAI's mAadhaar app or other UIDAI-approved QR code scanning apps available on Google Play Store, Apple Store, and Windows-based platforms. The Windows application can be obtained from the official website "uidai.gov.in."

Aadhaar number verification can be carried out through various channels, both online and offline. Official avenues include using the UIDAI website, calling the toll-free number 1947, or visiting an Aadhaar enrollment center. For a quick and simple verification process, individuals can scan the QR code on their physical Aadhaar card, e-Aadhaar, or Aadhaar PVC . This scanning reveals biographical details such as name, gender, date of birth, address, and a photo, all accompanied by a digital signature from UIDAI.

About Aadhaar QR:

As detailed on the UIDAI website, e-Aadhaar QR codes contain demographic information, including Name, Address, Date of Birth, Gender, and Masked Aadhaar Number. The more comprehensive QR code also includes a photograph.

How to Verify Aadhaar with a QR scan via the mAadhaar app:

Step 1: Download and open the mAadhaar app.
Step 2: Launch the QR Code Scanner.
Note: Every physical Aadhaar card contains a QR Code.
Step 3: Scan the QR Code on the displayed Aadhaar.

Note: The application will scan the QR code and present the biographic information of the Aadhaar holder, including their name, gender, date of birth, address, and photo. These details are digitally signed by UIDAI and can be authenticated.

Other Ways to Verify Aadhaar Card:

Alternatively, individuals can digitally validate their Aadhaar by accessing the UIDAI website and entering their 12-digit Aadhaar number along with the captcha code. UIDAI also offers an Interactive Voice Response Service (IVRS) and an AI-based chatbot named Aadhaar Mitra for handling Aadhaar-related inquiries and services.
