Severe Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Forecast Across Multiple States

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that heavy rainfall is causing significant disruptions in various states, leading to severe waterlogging and traffic issues. On Wednesday, intense downpours affected regions including Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Assam, and Mizoram. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates closely as the IMD has predicted persistent rain in several states until August 30.
Rain Expected in East and Central India
As per the latest press release from the IMD, isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated in Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim until August 30, 2025. Additionally, Bihar and Jharkhand are expected to experience heavy monsoon rains on the 29th and 30th of August.
Weather Conditions in Himachal Pradesh
In Himachal Pradesh, landslides and flash floods have severely impacted daily life, resulting in numerous casualties. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for rain in several areas of Himachal Pradesh, including the cities of Solan and Sirmaur.
Forecast for Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, and More
Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, and Haryana are expected to face continuous heavy rainfall over the next week. Other regions likely to be affected include Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab from August 30 to September 1, West Rajasthan from August 29 to 31, and Uttar Pradesh on September 1 and 2. Light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning, is also predicted for Northwest India, with showers expected in Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, and West Rajasthan today, and in Uttarakhand over the next week.
Northeast India Prepares for Heavy Rain
Arunachal Pradesh is likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall from August 28 to 30. Meanwhile, states such as Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are forecasted to receive rain over the next week.
