Fishermen advised not to venture into sea as rough weather likely till May 23

Udupi/Mangaluru: The India Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea as rough weather conditions accompanied by strong winds are likely to continue over parts of the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal from May 19 to May 23.

According to the weather department, strong winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph are expected over the Karnataka coast, Kerala, Lakshadweep region and nearby Kanyakumari sea areas. Wind speeds may increase up to 60 kmph in some places.

Fishermen have been warned against venturing into deep sea during this period. Those who are already at sea have been directed to return to the coast immediately.

The district administrations have also been instructed to take necessary precautionary measures in this regard.
