2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 Unveiled: More Power, Smart Radar Safety and India Launch in March

Newspoint

Triumph has unveiled the updated 2027 Tiger 1200 adventure motorcycle with significant improvements to its engine, suspension, rider comfort and safety technology. The new model aims to offer better performance on highways and improved control while navigating traffic or challenging terrain.

The updated motorcycle is expected to arrive in India in March 2027 and is set to be offered in two variants: GT Pro and Rally Explorer.

More Powerful 1,200cc Engine

The 2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 is powered by a 1,200cc T-Plane triple-cylinder engine that produces 158 PS at 9,250 rpm, equivalent to approximately 156 bhp. This represents an increase of 8 PS over the outgoing model.

Triumph has revised several engine components, including the cylinder head, pistons, valves and fuel injection system, to improve performance. Updates to the gearbox and shaft drive are also intended to deliver smoother operation.

The company has additionally worked on low-speed handling. The revised engine setup is designed to make the motorcycle easier to manoeuvre in congested traffic, navigate tight spaces and control at low speeds.

New Semi-Active Suspension and Adjustable Seat Height

One of the key upgrades is the SHOWA EERA HEIGHTFLEX semi-active suspension system. Riders can select from Firm, Medium and Soft settings to suit different road conditions and riding preferences.

The motorcycle also features an automatic ride-height adjustment system that lowers the seat by approximately 30mm when the bike comes to a stop. The seat returns to its normal position as the motorcycle moves again.

With an optional low seat, the seat height can reportedly be reduced to around 790mm while stationary. A Centre Stand Assist feature is also included to make placing the motorcycle on its centre stand easier by temporarily increasing suspension preload.

Both variants feature 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, 200mm of suspension travel and Brembo Stylema brakes. The GT Pro gets cast aluminium wheels, while the Rally Explorer uses spoked wheels. Depending on the variant, riders can access up to eight riding modes.

Radar-Based Safety Technology

The updated Tiger 1200 introduces front and rear Bosch radar systems designed to improve rider awareness and safety.

The available technology includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, emergency braking assistance and blind-spot alerts.

Group Ride Assist is also intended to help riders remain aware of other motorcycles during group journeys.

Additional safety features include cornering ABS and traction control, helping riders maintain control in changing conditions.

Touchscreen Display and Connectivity Features

The motorcycle comes with a 7-inch HD touchscreen supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A dedicated phone-cooling compartment and USB-C charging are also included.

Adaptive LED headlights are designed to improve illumination while cornering, helping riders see the road more clearly at night.

These features add convenience for touring riders who rely on navigation, smartphone connectivity and clear road visibility during long journeys.

GT Pro vs Rally Explorer: What Is the Difference?

The two variants are designed for riders with different touring requirements.

The GT Pro comes with a 20-litre fuel tank and cast aluminium wheels, while the Rally Explorer features a larger 30-litre tank and spoked wheels.

The larger tank may be particularly useful for riders planning long-distance trips between fuel stops.

Both models receive revised bodywork, redesigned rider and pillion seats with thicker foam, heated seats and three-level adjustable heated grips.

When Will the 2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 Launch in India?

The updated Triumph Tiger 1200 is expected to launch in India in March 2027. Pricing and detailed India-specific specifications have not been confirmed in the information available.

According to Triumph Chief Product Officer Steve Sargent, the updates are intended to make the motorcycle more powerful, easier to ride and more technologically advanced without compromising the riding experience.

With its upgraded engine, automatic ride-height adjustment, touring features and radar-based safety systems, the 2027 Tiger 1200 aims to strengthen Triumph's offering in the premium adventure motorcycle segment.
