Hyundai, Honda Preparing Four New SUVs with EV, Petrol and CNG Options

September 14, 2026: Hyundai and Honda are preparing to launch four new SUVs in India in the coming months. The upcoming models will include electric, petrol and CNG options and are expected to compete with popular SUVs such as the Tata Punch EV and Hyundai Creta. The Indian SUV market is expected to see significant activity in the coming months. Hyundai is preparing to introduce the HE1i and BC4i, while Honda is working on the Elevate facelift and 0 Alpha EV.

Some of these models will directly compete with popular SUVs such as the Tata Punch EV and Creta. The new vehicles are expected to offer improved range, new features and distinctive designs. Hyundai HE1i Hyundai is working on a new sub-4-metre electric SUV, reportedly codenamed HE1i. It will directly compete with electric SUVs such as the Tata Punch EV and will be based on the E-GMP (K) platform. Test versions of the SUV have been spotted several times. Hyundai may offer two battery options, similar to the SiroS EV.
These could include 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs. Both versions are expected to offer a claimed range of around 450 to more than 500 km on a full charge. The SUV is expected to be launched by December this year. Hyundai BC4i The BC4i is the codename for Hyundai’s upcoming mid-size SUV, which is said to be inspired by the Bayon. It will be positioned between the Venue and the upcoming Creta. The India-spec model is expected to have a design different from the global Bayon.
It may feature a connected LED light bar, LED DRLs, new alloy wheels and attractive LED tail lamps. Initially, the SUV is unlikely to get a diesel or hybrid engine. Instead, Hyundai may offer the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine available with the Creta. A key feature could be a factory-fitted underbody CNG kit. If introduced, it would be Hyundai’s first CNG SUV measuring more than four metres in length. Honda Elevate Facelift The facelifted Honda Elevate is also expected to be launched in October 2026.
The company has been testing the updated SUV for some time. The facelift could bring a redesigned front section, a revised grille and minor changes to the headlamps. New alloy wheels and a modified rear bumper and skid plate may also be offered. However, the overall standard design is expected to remain largely unchanged. Major changes to the engine are not expected. The SUV may continue with the existing 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated i-VTEC petrol engine, which produces 121 PS of power and 145 Nm of torque.
It is expected to be offered with manual and CVT gearbox options. Honda 0 Alpha Honda is also preparing to bring its first next-generation electric SUV, the 0 Alpha, to India. The company has started road testing the model in India. The SUV is expected to feature a modern and boxy design. It may be offered with two LFP battery options with capacities of around 65 kWh and 75 kWh. Its real-world driving range on a full charge is expected to be around 450 to 500 km.
