Hyundai to Launch New EV SUV in India Soon, Check What to Expect
India's electric car market is growing steadily, encouraging automakers to bring more EVs to buyers. Hyundai Motor India is now preparing to strengthen its electric vehicle line-up with a new SUV aimed at mass-market customers. The upcoming model is expected to be an important addition to the company's EV strategy in India.
Hyundai currently sells the IONIQ 5 and Creta Electric in India's EV market. The new SUV will give the company a stronger presence in the more mass-oriented electric vehicle segment.
The move comes as more Indian customers consider electric cars for everyday use. With an SUV body style and a focus on mass-market buyers, Hyundai is looking to make its EV portfolio more accessible.
By the end of FY2026-27, Hyundai plans to expand its EV-ready sales and service network to 820 touchpoints and 650 workshops. The company is also training employees to handle electric vehicles across sales, servicing and repairs.
This expanded network could help customers get easier access to trained staff and EV-specific services as the number of electric cars on Indian roads increases.
More than 10,000 sales employees have already received EV-related training. Hyundai also has over 2,600 trained dealership service personnel working at its EV service touchpoints.
With electric cars requiring different systems, components and repair procedures compared with conventional vehicles, having trained personnel will be important as Hyundai expands its EV range.
On World EV Day 2026, the company launched a 120 kW DC fast-charging station in New Delhi. The company believes that a combination of more charging facilities, trained employees and wider service coverage can make EV ownership more convenient.
Hyundai Motor India MD and CEO Tarun Garg said the company is working towards making electric mobility easier and more dependable for customers. Its strategy includes building charging infrastructure, expanding service facilities and developing a trained workforce.
With a new mass-market electric SUV in the pipeline, Hyundai is looking to strengthen its position in India's rapidly developing EV market while also building the support network needed for wider electric vehicle adoption.
