Kia PV7: 11-Seater Electric Van With 460 Km Range And AWD Option, Launch Details Soon
Kia has globally unveiled its new electric van, the PV7, expanding its Purpose-Built Vehicle (PBV) lineup. Positioned above the smaller PV5, the PV7 will be available in both passenger and cargo versions. The electric van is designed to cater to a mix of commercial and passenger requirements, with a spacious cabin, fast charging and multiple seating configurations.
Kia plans to launch the PV7 first in South Korea and Europe in the second half of 2027. The company has not yet announced whether or when the electric van will be introduced in India.
An all-wheel-drive version is also planned for a later stage. This could give buyers an additional option depending on their driving and load requirements.
The PV7 is based on Kia's 800V E-GMP.S architecture. With a 350kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in a little over 20 minutes, according to the company.
The van has two charging ports. The primary AC/DC charging port is positioned at the front, while an optional AC charging port is available at the rear.
At the front, the electric van gets slim LED headlights, a black grille and silver detailing. C-shaped LED daytime running lights add a distinctive design element.
Both passenger and cargo versions feature sliding doors. The cargo variant will also offer a manually operated sliding-door option.
At the rear, slim wraparound LED taillights complete the design. The passenger version gets a conventional lift-up tailgate, while the cargo version can be equipped with a twin-swing tailgate.
A seven-seat layout will be available as well. Some seats can be removed, allowing the cabin to be adapted according to whether passengers or additional cargo space is required.
This flexibility gives the PV7 a dual-purpose character, making it suitable for passenger transportation as well as situations where extra luggage or cargo space is needed.
The passenger version also gets ambient lighting on the dashboard. Roof-mounted air-conditioning vents are provided for the rear seating areas, while passengers get access to 100W USB-C charging ports.
For safety, Kia has equipped the PV7 with seven airbags, including a roof-mounted co-driver airbag. The van also gets Level 2 ADAS, offering various driver-assistance functions.
Kia has also indicated that additional PV7 conversion models and configurations could be introduced in new markets in the future. However, details about a possible India launch are yet to be announced.
