Kia has entered a new phase in India’s premium SUV market with the launch of the Sorento. The company has also started customer deliveries of the SUV. The Sorento stands out as Kia’s first hybrid vehicle in India and is also manufactured locally.

The first is a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid setup. The petrol engine produces 180 PS and 265 Nm, while the electric motor adds 65 PS and 264 Nm. This powertrain comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The second option is a 2.2-litre diesel engine developing 193 PS and 442 Nm. It is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
All-wheel drive is available with both powertrains. AWD versions also get terrain modes designed for Snow, Sand and Mud conditions.
Kia says the Sorento is the first SUV in its segment to offer the combination of a hybrid powertrain and AWD.
The cabin comes with ventilated seats for the front and second rows, along with powered front seats. A dual-pane panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting and a rear sunshade further add to the premium feel.
Passengers in the second and third rows get dedicated air-conditioning vents. The dashboard houses two 12.3-inch displays, with one serving as the infotainment screen and the other functioning as the digital instrument cluster.
Other notable features include a head-up display, digital inside rear-view mirror and 12-speaker Bose audio system. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also offered.
The SUV additionally gets Digital Key 2.0 and more than 85 connected-car features.
Seven airbags are available as standard, while the top variant gets up to 10 airbags. The SUV also features a 360-degree camera, blind-view monitor and 12 parking sensors.
Five radars are also part of the SUV’s safety technology package, adding to its driver assistance capabilities.
