Mahindra SUV Price Hike: Thar, Scorpio and XUV 7XO Could Become More Expensive

If you're planning to buy a Mahindra SUV, you may want to keep an eye on prices over the coming weeks. Mahindra & Mahindra is considering another price increase across its SUV portfolio, which could make popular models such as the Thar, Scorpio and XUV 7XO more expensive.

The company has not confirmed the hike yet, but a decision could be taken within the next few weeks.

Why Is Mahindra Considering a Price Hike?

Mahindra Automotive President and CEO Nalinikanth Gollagunta told PTI that the company is evaluating another price increase because of rising commodity costs.

Raw material prices can have a significant impact on vehicle manufacturing costs. Automakers often pass a portion of these additional costs on to customers through price revisions.

However, Mahindra has clarified that another increase is not yet certain.

Mahindra Has Already Increased Prices Three Times in 2026

This would not be the company's first price revision this year.

Mahindra has already increased vehicle prices in January and April. In July, the company raised SUV prices by an average of around 2.7%.

The July increase was also attributed largely to higher commodity prices.

If another hike is announced, customers looking to purchase a Mahindra SUV may therefore face another increase within the same year.

Will Higher Prices Affect Demand?

So far, Mahindra says its price increases have not significantly affected customer enquiries and bookings.

The company believes demand remains strong, partly because vehicle prices are still benefiting from the impact of the recent GST reduction compared with the earlier tax structure.

Mahindra is also expecting strong demand during the festive season, traditionally an important period for vehicle sales in India.

New and updated models are another factor helping the company maintain customer interest.

Mahindra Continues to Focus on Electric Vehicles

While the company is expanding its SUV portfolio, it does not currently plan to shift its primary focus towards hybrid vehicles.

Mahindra's current strategy is strongly focused on electric vehicles (EVs), with the company expecting EVs to play an increasingly important role in India's automobile market.

However, the company has indicated that its strategy could change depending on future government policies and regulations.

Production Capacity Is Also Being Increased

Mahindra is preparing to significantly expand its manufacturing capacity.

At present, the company's monthly production capacity is approximately:

• ICE vehicles: 60,000 units

• EVs: 8,000 units

• Total: Around 68,000 units

The company plans to increase ICE production capacity to around 70,000 units per month and EV capacity to approximately 12,000 units.

That would take its combined monthly capacity to around 84,000 vehicles.

New Mahindra Models Are on the Way

Mahindra is also preparing several product updates and launches over the next two quarters.

Around five product refreshes are planned, with some already introduced and additional updates expected.

The company is also preparing two major new launches—one in the ICE segment and another electric model.

These upcoming products, along with the planned increase in manufacturing capacity, are expected to play an important role in Mahindra's growth strategy.

Should You Buy a Mahindra SUV Now?

For buyers already planning to purchase a Mahindra SUV, the possibility of another price increase could be worth considering.

However, since the company has not confirmed the hike, buyers should compare the current on-road price, available discounts, waiting period and expected delivery timeline before making a decision.

If Mahindra announces another price revision in the coming weeks, models such as the Thar, Scorpio and XUV 7XO could become costlier depending on the size of the increase.
