Maruti Fronx to Get Major Upgrade in 2026: ADAS and Strong Hybrid System Coming Soon
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for a major upgrade to its highly popular compact SUV, the Fronx. Launched in April 2024, the Fronx quickly became a blockbuster for the company, consistently featuring in India’s top 10 best-selling SUVs. Within just a year of launch, it crossed the 1 lakh sales milestone, cementing its position as one of the fastest-selling models in its category.
Known for its modern styling, comfortable ride, practicality, and value-for-money pricing, the Fronx has won over Indian buyers since day one. Now, Maruti Suzuki is preparing to make it even better. The company plans to introduce two significant updates in 2026 — an ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) for improved safety and a strong hybrid powertrain
In-house Hybrid System Under Development
Maruti Suzuki has been steadily working toward expanding its hybrid technology across its mass-market lineup. According to reports, the Fronx will be the first Maruti model to feature the company’s in-house developed strong hybrid powertrain. The system is based on Suzuki Motor Corporation’s next-generation 48V Super Ene-Charge (SEC) hybrid system
This new setup is said to be more fuel-efficient and cost-effective than Toyota’s Atkinson-cycle hybrid engines. The aim is to make hybrid technology accessible to a larger customer base while delivering impressive mileage and lower emissions.

The upcoming Fronx Hybrid
Maruti Suzuki is also planning to introduce a sub-4-meter MPV to rival the Renault Triber and upcoming Nissan MPV. This compact MPV will reportedly be based on the Japan-spec Spacia platform
Safety Boost with ADAS
Apart from the hybrid setup, the Fronx will also get ADAS features, bringing advanced safety technologies such as lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and more. These updates will help the Fronx compete with premium compact SUVs and align with Maruti’s push toward safer, more advanced vehicles.
