Delhi Acid Attack Case Takes Shocking Turn: Victim’s Father Confesses to Faking Attack
The Delhi Police on Monday evening detained the father of a 20-year-old woman near Delhi University's Laxmi Bai College, who had earlier claimed to be the victim of an acid attack allegedly carried out by her stalker and his two friends. The man was taken into custody from the Sangam Vihar area for intensive questioning, during which he made a shocking confession. He admitted that the so-called acid attack had been fabricated using a toilet cleaner and that he had also raped the wife of the man his daughter had accused of throwing acid at her.
The startling revelation came just hours after the woman’s father was himself accused of sexual assault by the wife of the main accused in the alleged acid attack case. According to police sources, the wife of the accused approached law enforcement officials and lodged a formal complaint against the woman’s father, following which an FIR was promptly registered.
Senior police officers confirmed that the rape accused was traced and apprehended from Sangam Vihar, where he had been hiding after a rape case was filed against him. During interrogation, the man allegedly told investigators that both he and his daughter had fabricated the acid attack story in a premeditated attempt to falsely implicate the woman’s husband and two of his relatives. These individuals were reportedly involved in ongoing legal and personal disputes with the accused man, which investigators believe motivated the entire false narrative.
He admitted that the entire case was orchestrated to settle scores, said a senior police officer involved in the ongoing investigation. The confession not only exposed the alleged conspiracy but also shifted the direction of the probe, which was initially focused on identifying the supposed acid attackers.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Police had already cast doubt on the woman’s claims, revealing that the location of the key suspect was not near the spot where the alleged acid attack had reportedly taken place. This revelation, coupled with the father’s confession, now raises serious questions about the authenticity of the initial allegations and the motives behind fabricating such a grave offence.
The investigation is continuing as police work to verify the extent of the false claims and determine whether more individuals were complicit in misleading the authorities.
