Distinct AMG Styling Lends Bold New Identity

The most visible update on the 2025 GLS AMG Line is its distinctive AMG-inspired styling. The SUV now sports a more aggressive front apron, a vertically-slatted AMG grille, and larger, performance-oriented alloy wheels measuring 21 inches. The Night Package adds blacked-out styling elements, subtly elevating the SUV’s sport appeal. Perforated brake discs featuring Mercedes-Benz branding not only enhance aesthetics but also improve overall braking efficiency.

Cabin Gets AMG Touch With Luxury Upgrades

Inside the cabin, the AMG Line GLS gains a sportier and more refined look. Updates include AMG-branded stainless steel pedals, a nappa leather multifunction steering wheel, and brushed metal accents. Even the floor mats and trims reflect AMG’s design language, giving the SUV a dynamic, performance-first character without compromising on plushness or comfort. The GLS remains a spacious seven-seater loaded with top-end tech, including advanced driver assistance systems and connected features.

Twin Turbo Engines Deliver Strong On-Road Performance

Under the hood, Mercedes continues to offer the GLS in two powertrain options, both using a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine format. The petrol-powered GLS 450 generates 376 hp and 500 Nm of torque, while the diesel GLS 450d produces 360 hp with a hefty 750 Nm of torque. Paired with the brand’s 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, both versions can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds. The top speed for both is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

No Cosmetic Change, But Driving Dynamics Elevated

Though the body shell and proportions remain identical to the standard GLS, the AMG Line’s dynamic enhancements make a difference in both performance and feel. With a more aggressive braking setup and finely tuned suspension, this new version of the GLS offers sharper control and road confidence. The improved stopping power complements the SUV’s high-speed performance, which is impressive for a vehicle of its size.

Mercedes-Benz India Riding Wave Of Sales Growth

The AMG Line debut comes at an important time for Mercedes-Benz India. The carmaker has recorded its highest-ever first-quarter sales in FY2025–26, selling 4,238 units from April to June. This marks a 10% year-on-year increase, driven largely by a surge in demand for premium models and electric vehicles.

The Top-End Vehicle (TEV) segment—comprising the Maybach, S-Class, and AMG offerings—grew by 20%, reflecting the increasing appetite among Indian buyers for ultra-luxurious and high-performance models. Battery electric vehicles also witnessed robust growth, with sales jumping by an impressive 157%, now forming 8% of the brand’s total sales in India.

Luxury, Performance, And Positioning Combined

With the launch of the AMG Line GLS models, Mercedes-Benz has added a performance-centric twist to its most popular full-size SUV. The updates enhance its competitive edge against luxury SUVs in the same segment, while catering to Indian buyers who expect a blend of prestige, driving excitement, and technology.

Priced between ₹1.40 crore and ₹1.43 crore (ex-showroom), the new GLS AMG Line is positioned for those seeking a bold luxury SUV with genuine performance credentials. Deliveries are expected to begin shortly, and bookings are now open across Mercedes-Benz dealerships nationwide.
