MINI launches Cooper Oxford Edition in India: Price, what's special
MINI has launched the Cooper Oxford Edition in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 55.50 lakh. The limited-edition 3-door hatchback celebrates 25 years of modern MINI production at the BMW Group’s Oxford plant in the UK. It gets exclusive exterior colours, Union Jack-inspired design elements and additional equipment over the standard model.
It will be sold as a completely built-up unit (CBU) and is available to book through authorised MINI India dealerships. Deliveries have commenced immediately.
MINI Cooper Oxford Edition : What’s special?
The special edition is based on the Favoured Pack and is available in two exclusive exterior colours: Indigo Sunset Blue and Chilli Red. Both paint options are paired with a white contrast roof featuring the Union Jack, along with white ORVM caps. A red and white stripe running along the car further highlights its British connection, while an exclusive boot sticker combines the Union Jack with a chequered racing flag.
Other exterior highlights include 18-inch Slide Spoke two-tone alloy wheels, redesigned matrix rear lights and LED headlights with three selectable daytime running light signatures. The Union Jack theme continues inside the cabin through a textured steering wheel detail, themed door sills and floor mats featuring British flag and chequered flag elements.
The cabin gets JCW Sport Seats finished in Vescin Black upholstery as standard, along with electric seat adjustment and an Active Seat function for the driver. The dashboard and door panels feature recycled knitted textile surfaces, while the panoramic glass roof adds to the airy feel of the interior.
Features and technology
The MINI Cooper Oxford Edition gets a 240mm circular OLED touchscreen, running MINI Operating System 9 with touchscreen and voice controls. The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant can be activated using the ‘Hey MINI’ command to access functions such as navigation, telephony and entertainment.
Other features include a head-up display, Harman Kardon surround sound system, wireless smartphone charging, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, MINI Digital Key Plus and a cabin camera that can record photos and videos with sound. The car also offers Remote Services, Remote Software Upgrades, Teleservices and an Intelligent Emergency Call function.
Engine and performance
Power comes from a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 204 hp and 300 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed Steptronic Sport dual-clutch automatic transmission, with power sent to the front wheels.
MINI claims a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 6.6 seconds and a top speed of 242 kmph. The car also gets adaptive suspension and JCW Sport Brakes. Driver assistance and safety features include cruise control, Parking Assistant, a rear-view camera, Dynamic Stability Control, ABS, Cornering Brake Control and tyre pressure monitoring.
