New 125cc Scooter Debuts With Smart Features & Sporty Design In India

Indian two-wheeler buyers now have a new, feature-packed option in the sporty scooter segment, as a leading manufacturer unveils its updated 125cc model with smart connectivity and new tech-driven upgrades. The freshly launched scooter arrives in two variants and brings a notable price hike, but aims to justify the jump with a better digital experience, new colour choices, and compliance with the upcoming 2025 emission norms. It continues the legacy of a long-trusted moto-scooter brand that has been a consistent hit with style-conscious urban riders.

Two Variants, New Colours, and a Digital Overhaul
The newly launched scooter is available in two trims—DLX and a more advanced H-Smart edition—priced at ₹96,749 and ₹1,02,144 respectively (ex-showroom). Compared to its previous generation, the model is nearly ₹9,000 costlier. However, that increase brings a more premium feel, both in terms of features and technology. Buyers can also pick from five eye-catching colour options including Pearl Sports Yellow, Pearl Igneous Black, Mat Marvel Blue Metallic, Pearl Deep Ground Gray, and Imperial Red.

Upgraded Instrument Panel and Connectivity Features
One of the standout changes in this new iteration is the fully redesigned instrument cluster. Gone is the old LCD screen, replaced by a modern 4.2-inch TFT display. This new screen is not only larger but also adds Bluetooth integration through the brand’s RoadSync app. Riders will now benefit from smartphone pairing, turn-by-turn navigation, call notifications, and text alerts right on the dashboard.

Additionally, a USB type C charging port has been added, allowing on-the-go charging for smartphones and other gadgets—ideal for city commuters and young professionals. The display’s design and layout offer improved visibility and a more intuitive interface for daily use.

No Engine Change, But New Emission Compliance
Under the bodywork, the scooter continues with its proven 123.92cc single-cylinder engine. It produces 8.16 bhp of power and 10.5 Nm of torque and is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). While the powertrain remains unchanged, it now conforms to the more stringent OBD2B emission standards that will come into effect in 2025.

This update ensures the scooter meets future compliance while also bringing improved environmental performance. An idle stop-start system has also been included to help conserve fuel during stop-and-go traffic, a useful feature in Indian cities.

Subtle Design Tweaks and Smart Practical Additions
While the overall silhouette and bodywork haven’t changed dramatically, subtle cosmetic enhancements in the form of fresh graphics have been introduced. These new elements add to the scooter’s youthful, edgy appeal, staying in line with its reputation as a fun and stylish urban ride.

The manufacturer has also ensured the model continues to provide the right blend of practicality and flair. With the addition of Bluetooth tech and connected features, the scooter becomes more competitive in a market where such offerings are fast becoming standard even in commuter segments.

Legacy of a Trusted Name in Urban Mobility
During the launch, Tsutsumu Otani, Managing Director, President & CEO of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, commented, “For over 21 years, the Dio has been an iconic name in the Indian market, standing as a symbol of style, performance, and trust. It has consistently been the first choice for customers looking for a trendy and reliable moto-scooter. With the launch of the new OBD2B Dio 125, we are excited to take forward its iconic legacy, keeping the core concept of moto-scooter intact, with added value and excitement for our customers.”

Rivalry and Road Ahead
In terms of market positioning, the scooter will face off against rivals like the TVS NTorq 125, which has long been a favourite in the performance-oriented scooter space. With its updated digital features and compliance with future norms, the newly launched 125cc scooter is expected to attract buyers looking for a stylish, tech-savvy commuter without jumping into the premium price bracket.

Deliveries are set to begin shortly, with bookings already open at authorised dealerships across the country. As the demand for feature-rich two-wheelers continues to grow, this new entry strengthens its brand's presence in the competitive 125cc scooter segment.
