River has taken a significant step towards boosting customer confidence in its electric scooters by introducing an 8-year/80,000km extended warranty for the battery and motor of the River Indie. Launching on 1 October 2025, this programme will be available for all new bookings as well as existing customers who purchased their scooters after 1 April 2025. According to experts, such extended coverage addresses the high costs of battery replacement and motor repair while reinforcing long-term reliability for EV owners.

Extended Warranty Details and Benefits
River’s new extended warranty programme covers the two most critical components of its EV scooters: the battery and motor. The warranty applies if the battery’s State of Health (SOH) falls below 70 percent or if the motor becomes non-functional even after repair attempts. This move is aimed at providing peace of mind for buyers concerned about long-term reliability and potential replacement costs, two common concerns among EV owners. For existing customers who purchased their scooters after 1 April 2025, the programme is priced at Rs 8,399 (+GST). Company Perspective and Customer Assurance
Sachin Patial, River’s service head, stated, “We are excited to introduce this extended warranty initiative, which underscores our strong confidence in River’s engineering and product quality. Today’s consumers value long-term trust and dependability, and with this 8-year warranty covering both the battery and motor, we aim to go beyond expectations by reinforcing our promise of durable and dependable mobility solutions.” Experts believe this initiative is likely to enhance customer loyalty while encouraging broader adoption of EVs in India.Market Expansion and Future Plans
The River Indie remains the Bengaluru-based manufacturer’s only scooter in the current portfolio. The company operates in 15 cities but has confirmed plans to expand across all major Indian cities by 2026. Analysts highlight that extended warranty programmes like this could play a crucial role in building consumer confidence as the EV market continues to grow. By reducing perceived risks associated with battery and motor longevity, River positions itself as a customer-centric and forward-thinking EV brand. Why Extended Warranties Matter in EVs
Extended warranties in electric vehicles provide buyers with reassurance about component durability. Batteries and motors are among the costliest parts to replace, and failure in either can be financially challenging. According to industry experts, long-term warranties help cultivate trust in EV technology, encourage timely servicing, and may improve resale value. Consumers increasingly consider such warranties when choosing their first or next EV.Looking Ahead
River’s 8-year/80,000km extended warranty initiative reflects the company’s commitment to dependable mobility solutions. As the EV industry evolves, long-term customer support is becoming a key differentiator, and River’s programme may set a benchmark for competitors. Buyers can now confidently plan for sustainable mobility, knowing that the brand stands firmly behind its engineering promises.Next Story
