The 45 kWh Nexon EV scored an impressive 29.86 out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 44.95 out of 49 for child occupant protection. This achievement follows the 5-star rating received by the 30 kWh Nexon EV variant last year, completing a full 5-star safety record for the entire Nexon EV range.

Crash Test Performance Highlights
In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Nexon EV delivered notable results. The driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs, and feet were rated as offering ‘good’ protection, while the chest and tibia scored an ‘adequate’ rating. For the front passenger, protection for all major body regions including the head, neck, chest, pelvis, thighs, and left tibia was rated ‘good’, with the right tibia assessed as ‘adequate’.

In the side movable deformable barrier assessment, the vehicle scored 15.60 out of a possible 16 points. Protection for all critical regions of the driver was considered ‘good’, with the exception of the chest, which maintained an ‘adequate’ level of safety. Additionally, in the demanding side pole impact test, the SUV continued to deliver top-tier performance with all driver body regions rated as offering ‘good’ protection.

The Nexon EV 45 kWh variant also excelled in child occupant protection evaluations. In dynamic assessments, where child restraint systems were used, the EV scored 23.95 out of 24 points. Side impact protection for child dummies representing 18-month-old and 3-year-old children received full marks, demonstrating the effectiveness of the safety systems designed for young passengers.

In frontal impact tests, the child dummies once again showcased strong results, with the 18-month-old dummy scoring 7.95 out of 8 and the 3-year-old dummy securing a perfect score of 8 out of 8. The top-spec Empowered+ LR variant of the Nexon EV, which was tested, comes packed with an array of safety features. The SUV now charges from 10 to 80 per cent in just 40 minutes when connected to a fast charger exceeding 60kW. The battery pack also delivers a claimed range of 489 kilometres on a full charge, with a real-world range estimate between 350 and 370 kilometres. Furthermore, according to Tata Motors, a quick 15-minute charge can provide up to 130 kilometres of range, making it highly practical for urban commutes and intercity travel.
