DA Hike: Employees are in luck this Diwali! Salaries will increase in this state, with an 8% increase in DA

This is very important news for government employees. Government employees and pensioners in Punjab are about to benefit. The Punjab government has increased their dearness allowance (DA) by a total of 8 percent. This decision will increase employees' DA from 42 percent to 50 percent. This increase will be given in two phases of 4 percent each.

This decision was announced following a meeting between Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and representatives of employee unions. Following the meeting, Minister Aman Arora announced the DA increase in a joint press conference with employee leaders. It is reported that this decision will benefit 400,000 government employees and 350,000 pensioners. It is estimated that this will impose an additional burden of approximately ₹250 crore on the government treasury.

According to information received, the first 4% DA increase

will be given in the September salary, while the second 4% increase will be given in the October salary. September salaries will be received on October 1st, so employees can benefit from the increased DA at that time.

DA wasn't the only issue discussed at this meeting. The pay scale for employees recruited after July 17, 2020, salaries during the probation period, the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), a professional tax of ₹200, salaries for contract employees, and computer teachers were also discussed.

The workers' unions also demanded an increase in the honorarium of mid-day meal workers. The government has promised to discuss these various demands. The next meeting is expected to take place in the first week of October.

Meanwhile, the separate issue of DA arrears remains. This decision to increase the 8% does not mean a complete settlement of past arrears. Further discussions will continue regarding the judicial and other demands related to this.
