Gold Price Today August 23: Gold Jumps Nearly ₹8,000 in a Week, Silver Rises ₹10,000

Gold prices in India have recorded a strong weekly rise, making the precious metal considerably more expensive for buyers across major cities. Over the past one week, the price of 24-carat gold has increased by as much as ₹7,960 per 10 grams in some markets, while 22-carat gold has become costlier by up to ₹7,300 per 10 grams.

Silver has also joined the rally. The white metal has gained around ₹10,000 per kilogram on a weekly basis, taking its price to ₹2,60,000 per kg on the morning of August 23, 2026.

In Delhi, 24-carat gold is priced at ₹1,63,240 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold is available at ₹1,49,650 per 10 grams. Rates in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and several other cities are slightly lower.

The sharp movement in domestic bullion prices comes at a time when gold and silver are also trading at elevated levels in the international market.

Gold Prices Rise Sharply Over the Week

Gold has delivered a strong performance during the past seven days. Depending on the city, 24-carat gold has become costlier by up to ₹7,960 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold has risen by as much as ₹7,300.

The increase is significant for consumers planning to buy jewellery as well as for investors tracking gold as an asset class.

According to the rates available on August 23, international spot gold is trading around $4,600.91 per ounce
