The government announced that starting October 1st, domestic LPG customers will be required to complete biometric Aadhaar authentication to book refills at the subsidized retail price. The goal is to ensure that subsidized gas cylinders reach only eligible families.

Customers who have already completed authentication do not need to do anything further. According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, as of September 19, 274.3 million active domestic LPG customers have completed their biometric Aadhaar authentication. For those who have not yet completed this process, subsidized refill booking will begin once authentication is complete.

How to perform biometric authentication?

The government has clearly stated that this rule is not intended to harass anyone, so several easy options have been provided to complete it.

When the LPG delivery boy comes to your house to deliver the cylinder, you can immediately complete your fingerprint or face-ID authentication from the comfort of your home through his mobile or biometric scanner or you can go to the office or showroom of the concerned gas agency and complete your e-KYC process in minutes at the biometric counter installed there.
